Before choosing to train as a composer, Pierre AGUT (b. 1983) came to music via the piano. He studied musicology at the University of Paris IV-Sorbonne and also composition, organ and orchestration at the Paris Conservatoire (CNSMDP), from which he graduated with four prizes (harmony, counterpoint, analysis, twentieth-century composition). He is also fully qualified to teach in institutions of higher education; he specialises in composition.
With an awareness of the interplay between listener and performer, Pierre Agut focuses in his compositions on two aspects: works based on sound research, intended for professional musicians and ensembles; works based on educational research, aimed at amateurs and aspiring young musicians.
