RAYNAUD, Philippe Vies nocturnes

“Vies nocturnes” (“Nocturnal Lives”), for flute, calls up the animal (and plant?) world that largely escapes human consciousness.
This piece invites the listener to plunge into a universe – sometimes quite lively – with which he or she may not be familiar (this is suggested by the long notes in the flute’s high register), and which is hidden.
It does not call for a particular technique, and allows the instrument to explore its “natural” sound spectrum almost entirely.
This work is dedicated to Mihi Kim, who inspired it.
